Presenter (s): Joseph Zavaglia, Jr. Esq.

While television portrays litigation exclusively through the eyes of oral advocacy, the reality is most cases are driven by written communications. No matter what level of experience you have, you are constantly being called on to utilize this critical skill! Knowing the law is useless if you are unable to effectively communicate it in writing. Poor writing abilities can have disastrous consequences to the client's case as well as your reputation! Through this seminar presentation, Joseph Zavaglia, who has taught legal writing for decades at law schools and paralegal programs alike, will provide you with the tools to succeed in your legal writing.

The Program Agenda/Outline is as follows:

  • Written v. Verbal Language;
  • Formal v. Informal Writing;
  • Creating the "guided tour" in writing;
  • Painting the Picture;
  • Facts v. Opinion;
  • Bias and Stereotypes;
  • Using Descriptive words to effectively advocate;
  • The importance of seeing both sides of the argument;
  • Redundancy v. Repetition.

Total Program Lecture Time:  One-Hundred (100) Minutes
